“A film is never really good unless the camera is an eye in the head of a poet.”

Orson Welles

Writing has never been a particular passion of mine. Art, however, in its various forms and mediums, has fascinated me since I was very young. As I’ve grown older, my appreciation has deepened not only through exposure, but through a growing, but albeit small, understanding of theme and, more importantly, of human experience. I find myself looking for, and often finding, the reflection of life in art, and I’ve felt the desire to share my thoughts and emotions with my friends, family, or like-minded individuals. They have, in turn, encouraged me to share with others through writing. In the past few years, I’ve continued to push myself to write more and more, because it has brought me to more sincere and well-thought out reflections, as well as genuine expression. However, I’ve never truly motivated myself to write consistently, and I finally gave in to making this blog, because where else could I post something as ridiculously pretentious sounding as this “About” section? In truth, i’m just a guy who loves films, who won’t shut up about them, and who needs an outlet to write about them. And the quote? I just thought it was cool.
